Umesh Kumar Adari

Umesh Kumar Adari is a Research Assistant at the Xylem Lab and holds a Master's degree in Data Science from the University of Maryland, College Park. His primary focus is on engineering the scalable technical infrastructure needed to translate geographical data and theoretical models into functional software tools for researchers.

A key element of his work involves developing Agricultural Foundation Models (AFMs) — models designed to efficiently process large volumes of Earth observation (EO) data, essential for monitoring agricultural conditions and analyzing regional trends. His research is fundamentally driven by the practical application of artificial intelligence to address global food security challenges.

Mr. Adari is motivated by the technical challenge of making massive, complex EO datasets more accessible and useful. By continuously improving the machine learning models used to analyze satellite imagery, his ultimate goal is to provide researchers with more reliable tools for understanding agricultural trends and supporting sustainable food systems globally.
