Luka Brownworth
Communications Intern
Luka Brownworth is a Communications Intern at the Xylem Lab and an undergraduate architecture student at the University of Maryland, where he works as a videographer. He specializes in digital content, video editing, and short-form documentaries, combining an academic foundation in design and environmental systems with narrative-driven video production.
At the lab, Luka's work centres on documenting Dr. Catherine Nakalembe's mission in global food security and environmental science communication, producing media that follows the research into the field and captures the people and impact behind it.
His core focus is translation: turning complex topics like remote sensing, soil health, and environmental infrastructure into engaging, accessible media. Luka is motivated by the challenge of making rigorous environmental science not just understandable, but genuinely entertaining for a broad audience.
